From a Pharmacy Graduate to Building Two Successful Manufacturing Companies: The Journey of Shrikant Kshirsagar
Many entrepreneurs discover opportunities after years of experience. Shrikant Kshirsagar identified his opportunity while he was still in pharmacy college. Observing the ever-growing demand for medical devices and personal care products, he decided that one day he would build a manufacturing company of his own.
Instead of rushing into business immediately after graduation, Shrikant spent four years working in the industry. During this period, he gained hands-on experience in manufacturing, quality control, and business operations. Once he felt confident about the industry, he took the entrepreneurial leap and established Chakan Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd.

Manufacturing Essential Medical Devices
Chakan Life Sciences specializes in manufacturing essential medical devices used by thousands of patients every day. Its product range includes steam inhalers, asthma inhaler pumps, insulin pens for diabetic patients, and several other healthcare devices.
The demand for these products has been remarkable, with some devices selling between 1.5 to 2 lakh units every month. The company’s commitment to quality has also earned it the trust of leading pharmaceutical companies such as Lupin and USV, for whom it manufactures products.
Entering the Beauty & Personal Care Industry
In 2019, Shrikant expanded his vision by launching Passiflora Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. at Pirangut near Pune. The company focuses on manufacturing a comprehensive range of skincare and haircare products for brands across India and overseas.
Its portfolio includes creams, lotions, face washes, serums, shampoos, conditioners, lip balms, sunscreens, moisturizers, soaps, body sprays, hair oils, shaving creams, and many more products.
One of Passiflora’s biggest strengths is the use of more than 300 natural ingredients, including aloe vera, honey, neem, tulsi, amla, onion, papaya, cocoa, beetroot, green apple, strawberry, and lemon, to create safe and effective formulations.
Innovation Beyond Human Care
Shrikant’s entrepreneurial thinking didn’t stop with personal care. The company also manufactures specialized soaps and shampoos for pets and animals using natural ingredients like oats, neem, and aloe vera, ensuring proper hygiene and skin care.
Passiflora is ISO 22716 GMP Certified and operates with all required manufacturing licenses, reflecting its strong focus on quality and compliance
Research-Driven Manufacturing
Today, Passiflora has developed over 100 product formulations and serves more than 80 clients. An in-house microbiology laboratory continuously tests products to maintain the highest quality standards.
The manufacturing facility is equipped with nearly 30 automated machines capable of producing around one tonne of products every day. From raw material storage and formulation to filling, labeling, and packaging, almost every stage is mechanized to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Trusted by Leading Brands
The company manufactures products for several reputed organizations, including Cadila Pharma, Tata Chemicals, Euro Care, Neck Life, and Benettan Pharma. It also supplies products for private labels, corporate gifting, and customized manufacturing requirements.
Its reputation has expanded beyond India, with products being exported to Dubai, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. Among its unique export products is a natural turmeric-based spray developed for treating camel wounds, showcasing the company’s ability to innovate for specialized markets.
Growth Built Without Marketing
Perhaps the most inspiring aspect of Shrikant’s journey is that both companies achieved steady growth without relying heavily on advertising or aggressive marketing campaigns. The businesses expanded through product quality, customer satisfaction, and positive word-of-mouth recommendations.
Today, Chakan Life Sciences records an annual turnover of around ₹1.5 crore, while Passiflora Laboratories has reached approximately ₹3.5 crore in annual revenue. Together, the two companies provide employment to more than 40 professionals, contributing to India’s growing manufacturing ecosystem.
Shrikant Kshirsagar’s story proves that successful businesses are built by identifying long-term market demand, gaining practical experience, and maintaining uncompromising quality. From manufacturing life-saving medical devices to developing innovative skincare, haircare, and veterinary products, he has shown how one entrepreneur can successfully build multiple businesses by focusing on customer trust rather than marketing alone.
His journey is an inspiration for young entrepreneurs who aspire to build manufacturing businesses rooted in innovation, quality, and continuous research.
